Chennai, August 23, 2024: The India Commonwealth Business Forum was held in Chennai with a focus on enhancing economic cooperation and cultural ties between India and Seychelles. The event marked the inauguration of a series of discussions aimed at fostering deeper bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. Her Excellency Mrs. Lalatiana Accouche, High Commissioner of Seychelles to India Launched the "India Seychelles Report 2024" at forum. In his welcome address Mr. Karunanithy Vaithiyanathasamy, the Honorary Trade Commissioner of the India Commonwealth Trade Council, emphasized the importance of strengthening business ties and exploring untapped potential between the two nations. The Indian Trade community in Seychelles is eager to participate in Commonwealth Trade Activities and will provide a platform for young commonwealth leaders to discuss trade issues and share ideas with key decision makes, added Mr Karunanithy
Her keynote address Her Excellency Mrs. Lalatiana Accouche , High Commissioner of Seychelles to India extended a warm invitation to the business community in Tamil Nadu to consider Seychelles not only as a place of unparalleled beauty but as a land of significant business potential. Seychelles share a strong relationship based on people-to-people connection and win- win collaboration and we expect more Indian Visitors with the launch of new Flight service, added Mrs Lalatiana
The theme of the forum, "India-Seychelles Relations – Way Forward," was set by Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the Indian Economic Trade Organization. Dr. Iqbal highlighted the historical and strategic importance of the relationship, underscoring the need for continued cooperation in various sectors.
A major highlight of the evening was the official launch of the "India Seychelles Report 2024,".The report provides an in-depth analysis of the current state of India-Seychelles relations and offers strategic recommendations for future engagement.
The India Commonwealth Trade council also proposed to set up and incubation centre in Seychelles based on the lines of the one set up in Zanzibar. This incubation centre will help build the human capital of the people of Seychelles. The MOU will be signed between the Indian Commonwealth Trade Council and The High Commissioner of Seychelles regarding this proposal. The High Commissioner of Seychelles had positive and fruitful discussions with IIT, Chennai this morning and she has agreed to collaborate on inviting the Indian talent for building the human capability and human potential in Seychelles. The team from the Indian Commonwealth Trade Council will be travelling to Seychelles in October to initiate this process.
