The Book 'Thiagarajar College - Opening The Doors To Education' At Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Thiagarajar College
Madurai November 20, 2023: Hon'ble Union Minister of Finance, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman launched the book titled 'Thiagarajar College - Opening the doors to education' at the Platinum jubilee celebration of Thiagarajar College held in Madurai on Sunday. The book was jointly authored by Mrs Uma Kannan, the President of the College, and Sandhya Sridhar, writer and editor.
Speaking on the occasion the Hon'ble Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman said, Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar was not just a dreamer, but also used his fame to bring the aesthetics of Cambridge to Madurai. The institutions founded by him were unique and stood tall in many ways and it has earned a distinction in the field of academics that it is known for its excellence. The presence of a visionary such as Thiagarajar Chettiar is a blessing for the institution. Madurai will gain from these individuals, she added.
The book lucidly espouses the vision of the founder and the Institute's journey to excellence bringing out the emphasis that Thiagarajar College places on a value-based holistic approach to education and character building - an approach that enshrines within it a strong appreciation and understanding of our heritage by preparing students for a successful career on the global stage - an approach that indeed defines the entire group of Thiagarajar Educational Institutions said, Smt. The book is a special tribute to the selfless service, dedication, and enormous contributions of the 3 institution builders, The Founder - Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar, Dr. Radha Thiagarajan, and my husband Karumuttu T. Kannan, and the enduring values that they stood with. The book portrays the struggles faced by the Founder, his motivation, and his commitment to preserving his vision, of quality education for everyone at the most affordable cost, said Dr UmaKannan, President, Thiagarajar College.
