India has successfully managed the transition to T+1 settlement.
If shares are sold on Monday (day T), the sale proceeds are credited to the bank account of investor after midnight of Tuesday (day T+1).
The funds are available to the investor from early Wednesday.
Similarly, if shares are purchased on Monday, they will be credited to demat acct on Tuesday midnight and are available for transactions from Wednesday.
T+1 is a superb system and India is one of the very few countries in the world which follows this system.
Such high liquidity available to every investor thro his mobile phone or lap tohp should make equity the DEFAULT option for investing one's savings.
All other asset classes like real estate, gold, etc. must justify their existence in your portfolio by a much superior return generation, to compensate for low or poor liquidity.
