Frequently asked questions

1. I have saved my credit/debit/ATM card on Amazon earlier. Can I use it to pay for my purchases?

A. If you have used your card to pay for purchases on Amazon or any other online merchants in the last 12 months, you can continue to use the card.

2. Does this impact payments using netbanking/UPI?

A. No. Netbanking and UPI are not impacted by this regulation. This impacts only cards issued on or after Sep 30, 2020 or cards that have not been used for online payments in the last 12 months prior to Sep 30, 2020.

3. I have an unused Amazon Pay Gift Card. Will I be able to redeem my gift card?

A. Yes. Gift Cards are not impacted by this regulation. Unless your Gift Card is past its validity date, you will be able to redeem it.

4. Will I be able to use my credit/debit/ATM card to pay for my order at the time of delivery?

A. Yes. Transactions on PoS devices are not impacted by this regulation. If PoS payments are currently available in your PIN Code, you will be able to use your card to make payments.

5. I am unable to use my credit/debit/ATM card on Amazon.in. What should I do?

A. Card transactions can fail due to several reasons including:

i) Insufficient funds in your bank account, or insufficient credit balance on your credit card,

ii) Incorrect OTP or CVV entered,

iii) Temporary downtime at your bank’s end. If none of these reasons are valid, and your card transactions are repeatedly failing, please verify the following: • Is your card issued on or after Sep 30, 2020? • Is your card issued prior to Sep 30, 2020, but not used for an online transaction in the last 12 months?

If either of these conditions is true, it is likely that your bank has deactivated online payments on your card following an RBI mandate to protect your card from fraudulent activity or misuse. You will need to contact your bank and get online transactions activated on your card. You can also check your mobile banking app or your bank’s website for options to activate online transactions.

6. I have got online transactions activated on my credit/debit/ATM card, but my transactions are still failing. What should I do?

A. Please check if you have received confirmation from your bank on activation of online payments. If your bank has confirmed that online transactions are activated on your card, but your transactions are still failing on Amazon.in, please reach out to our customer care with your order details for us to be able to troubleshoot the issue.

7. How can I contact the Bank to reactivate my card?

A. Helpline numbers for your credit/debit/ATM card are printed at the back of your card. You can also call the netbanking numbers of your bank to request for activation of online (Card Not Present), contactless (tap and pay) and international transactions. Here are the contact numbers of a few banks for your convenience:
