Jewellery brand to observe heightened COVID-19 safety and precautionary measures across all showrooms
Kalyan Jewellers has today announced the re-opening of 10 showrooms
across three states and one Union
Territory in India. The company will be resuming operations in certain
pockets of the country (green zones) where lockdown restrictions have
been eased, which include seven showrooms in Karnataka, one each in
Orissa and Assam and one in Puducherry respectively
as part of the first phase towards being fully operational in the
country.
The company has already started operations in the Middle East, with the
re-opening of 9 standalone showrooms in UAE and 3 showrooms in Qatar on
the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
Kalyan
Jewellers will be following the highest level of safety and
precautionary measures across operational showrooms, to safeguard the
health and safety of both customers and staff
alike. These measures include mandatory use of hand sanitizers at both
entry and exit points, providing masks and gloves to all staff members
as well as customers, temperature check via hand-held scanners at entry
points and regular deep cleaning and sanitization
across showrooms at multiple times through the day, especially
disinfecting common areas like counter tops, doors, etc. within the
showroom. All functional showrooms will strictly adhere to COVID-19
guidelines issued by the company.
Talking about the reopening,
Mr. T S Kalyanaraman, Chairman and Managing Director, Kalyan Jewellers said,
“India, UAE and Qatar are markets
where tradition of gold-buying is engrained as part of the culture. As
the lockdown in these countries, coincided with the peak
purchase/wedding season, we are expecting the pent up demand
for gold to resume, once the lockdown is lifted and the markets open.
While we begin operations across these showrooms, the health and safety
of our patrons and the community at large will remain of utmost
importance to us and we have instituted heightened
hygiene and sanitation measures in these showrooms. With these
openings, we hope to begin operations across our networks and get back
to normalcy in the short term in a step-by-step manner.”
The
showrooms will be open between 10 AM to 6 PM in select markets, which
include Guwahati, Pondicherry, Bhubaneshwar, Bangalore, Udupi, Bellary,
Hassan, Malleswaram, Jayanagar and
Marathahalli.
The jewellery brand is keeping a watch on the guidelines
issued by local authorities and is fully equipped to reopen showrooms in
other markets once the permissions are granted.
