Listed way back in 1978. The face value of the Colgate-Palmolive  share was Rs. 10 issued at the premium of Rs. 15 per share hence it was listed at Rs 25.

 100 shares one had to invest Rs. 2,500 in 1978.

Here is the break-up of bonuses and splits (assuming one had bought 100 shares in 1978) :

Bonus 1:1 was issued in 1982 hence 100 shares became 200 shares.

Bonus 1:1 was issued in 1985 hence 200 shares became 400 shares.

Bonus 1:1 was issued in 1987 hence 400 shares became 800 shares

Bonus 1:1 was issued in 1989 hence 800 shares became 1,600 shares

Bonus 3:5 was issued in 1991 hence 1600 shares became 2,560 shares

Bonus 1:1 was issued in 1994 hence 2560 shares became  5,120 shares

The face value of the share was split in 2007 from Rs. 10 per share to Rs. 1 per share hence 5,120 shares became Rs. 51,200 shares.

Bonus 1:1 was issued in 2015 hence 51,200 shares became 1,02,400 shares

So, the present (January 2020) holding is 1,02,400 shares valued at Rs 14.95 crores  (as per closing on 03.01.2020)
