CII AND TEXVALLEY TO ORGANISE 2ND EDITION OF SOUTH INDIA’S PREMIER TEXTILE FAIR “WEAVES”

Chennai, November 5th, 2019: After the successful maiden edition of WEAVES – South India’s Premier Textile Fair last year at Erode, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Texvalley jointly organizes the Second Edition of “WEAVES” from November 27 – 30, 2019 at Texvalley, the largest wholesale textile market in the heart of South India, Erode, Tamil Nadu. Weaves is the one and only Premier Textile Show in Tamil Nadu aroused great interest of the professional community and brought positive sentiment to its participants and visitors.

WEAVES is the first of its kind event focusing on promoting the Power Loom / Handloom Industry and would feature more than 250 plus exhibitors from across Tamil Nadu showcasing their products.  The Exhibitors would be from Greige, Processing & Finishing, Ethnic Wear & Knit Fabric, Handlooms & Khadi, Home Textiles, Textile Accessories and Machinery segments.


Speaking on WEAVES 2019, Mr. C. Devarajan, Vice-Chairman, Texvalley said “Weaves 2019 will be the combination of most intellectual concepts viz, business, networking, connecting the domestic entrepreneur globally, one-to-one meeting and brand promotion, This year we have met His Excellency the Ambassador of Srilanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Jordan, Ethiopia and Bangladesh and invited them and requested the trade delegates from the respective countries to participate in the WEAVES 2019 event B2B meetings and to set up country pavilion in the exhibition. Speaking about WEAVES 2019, Mr. S. Chandramohan, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu, Said “CII is happy to partner with Texvalley for 2nd of the WEAVES textile fair. Indian Textiles and Apparel is a USD 100 billion plus industry providing direct employment to over 45 million people and accounts for 14% of India’s Industrial production. In terms of capacity, the industry has second largest vertically integrated textiles production base in the world after China. The market size of Apparels and Textile is currently estimated at around USD 116 billion, and is expected to reach USD 141 billion by 2020.

Tamil Nadu is the leading state in the Country which provides direct employment to around 31 lakh people , more than Rs 50,000 Crore exports and 1/3rd of textile business in the country. Tamil Nadu has 46 % of Spinning capacity, 60 % of yarn export , 20%  of power loom capacity, 12 % of Handloom capacity, 70% of Cotton Fabric Knitting Capacity  in the country said Mr S Chandramohan. WEAVES will be an right platform for the weaving community in Tamil Nadu to showcase their products to the global buyers and top textile industry leaders which will help the industry to thrive in the region added, Mr S. On a special note about WEAVES 2019, Mr. P. Raajashekar, Managing Director, Texvalley, said “At Weaves 2019, the exhibitors will have enormous potential to showcase large variety of yarns, fabrics, garments, home-textiles, sustainable cloths, ethnic wear, etc. International buyers from more than 25 foreign countries will be visiting this fair for sourcing south Indian textile materials. In addition, over 8000 valuable people from textile fraternity in various categories such as domestic buying houses, legendary costume designers, textile value chains, retail boutiques, fashion designers, etc., will be utilizing this potential platform to see the wide variety of fabrics. One-to-one B2B & B2G meetings will be organized by WEAVES team to fulfill the main purpose of this event i.e., to create a network link between buyers and direct manufacturers.

We are expecting 4000-5000 master weavers and weavers to this show, as this fair is conducted as an international trade fair.
