Indian Overseas Bank launches ‘Banking on Wheels’

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) is proud to launch ‘Bank on Wheels’ in all its 14 Lead Districts and in Vijayawada region. The bank in its quest for enhancing customer service with its committed “Customer First” concept is now bringing Banking Services on wheels to rural and semi urban areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The Mobile Van or Banking on Wheel is being inaugurated today, May 27, 2019 in Chennai. The bank will simultaneously inaugurate the Mobile Van in remaining lead districts of IOB.

The facility will enable the public, especially the Senior Citizens of the society, to conveniently get door step banking facility available at identified locations of the Lead Districts. A dedicated Banking correspondent will accompany the vehicle with a micro ATM inside the Van to take care of banking services like Account opening, enrollment of customers in Social Security Scheme, Passbook Printing and other Financial inclusion activities. Mobile Van Services will be facilitated through a pre-announced program to the customers at various locations in the district.

The vehicle will also have color LED Display to educate the customer on the services offered by Bank along with the customer rights with respect to the bank which will help in the financial empowerment of the common man. The mobile van will have the services of the Security Guard to safeguard the Bank's assets in the Van.

Mr. R Subramaniakumar, MD & CEO – Indian Overseas Bank saidThis launch is part of IOB’s commitment under EASE (Enhanced Access and Service Excellence) program of DFS, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India. Indian Overseas Bank, the winner of EASE award under the ‘Deepening of Financial Inclusion’ category for the year 2019 has two Mobile ATMs operating in Metro Centers. The new Mobile Vans will help to serve the unbanked areas of 14 Lead Districts of IOB.

We at IOB have a firm belief that through the launch of Mobile Van, not only will the financial inclusion in the 14 lead districts increase but also the bond between the bank and its customers will be strengthened. This initiative will help customers develop greater trust in the bank as well as the banking services and help them forge a long lasting and positive relation with Indian Overseas Bank.” He further added.
