Link PAN with Aadhaar by
December 31, 2017
The government on August
31, 2017 extended the deadline for linking permanent account number (PAN) with
biometric identifier Aadhaar till December 31, 2017 a four month extension.
The government said the
`due-date' for filing income tax returns and various reports of audit
prescribed under the Income Tax Act 1961 has been extended to October 31, 2017 for all taxpayers who were liable to file
their returns by September 30, 2107
This is the second
extension after the deadline for PAN Aadhaar linkage was earlier revised from
July to August 31. The last date for people to link their bank accounts with
Aadhaar is also December 31, 22107.
The government has
already granted a similar extension for furnishing Aadhaar to avail the
benefits of social welfare schemes. It had said before the Supreme Court on recenlty
that the deadline was being extended.
