CDSL releases a report on ‘Profile of CDSL Demat Account Holders’
Central Depository Services (India) Limited [CDSL] is pleased to announce the release of a report on
Profile of CDSL Demat Account Holders. The executive summary of the said report is attached for quick reference. The detailed report can be downloaded from

Currently CDSL has
opened over 1.09 crore demat account which are serviced by its 583 DPs
spread across the country. We sincerely hope that the information
contained in this document will enrich the process of
policy making and may help in improving its outcome. These demat
accounts have a wealth of information available in electronic format.
An analysis of such information can provide an insight into psyche of
investors in securities market. Therefore, CDSL
has undertaken, in a limited way, profiling of CDSL demat account
holders which may present the behavioral patterns of Indian investors.
We express our
gratitude to the Capital Market Division of Department of Economic
Affairs, Ministry of Finance at whose behest we first conducted such
data analysis and then extended it further to cover other
parameters. Our thanks also to the Research Department of SEBI for
