K7 & K10 WILL BE LG’s FIRST MADE-IN-INDIA
SMARTPHONES
With this, LG bets big on India’s potential in
the smartphone market
LG Electronics India Limited (LGEIL)today
announced the launch of K7 and K10, the first smartphones the
company will be making in India. The move reiterates the company’s
long term commitment to India and its customers in the country.
At the launch event, graced by Shri Ravi Shankar
Prasad, Union Minister, Communications and IT, Government of India, Mr
Pankaj Mahindroo, Founder and National President, Indian Cellular
Association, Mr. J.S.Deepak, Secretary Dept. of
Telecommunication, Dr. Aruna Sharma, Secretary Department of
Electronics & IT,Mr Rajiv Bansal, Secretary – Electronics, DeitY, Mr
Kim Ki Wan, MD LG India, unveiled the K7 and K10, its latest line of
smart phones in unique glossy pebble design with advanced camera technology and
UX features of LG’s premium models.
The K-Series smartphones will be the first to offer LG’s glossy
pebble design, a contemporary, stylish look with a curved, modern
finish aimed at a younger audience. The glossy pebble design is complemented by
LG’s new 2.5D Arc Glassfor a smooth and seamless style that could
only be made possible due to the sides of K-series smartphones being free of
button clutter. With design cues borrowed from nature, the K10 and K7 look far
more expensive and exclusive than they really are.
The back cover features an intricate woven pattern for optimal
grip and confidence when on the move. Further, because consumers on the move
tend to enjoy an active lifestyle, the K-series is designed with multimedia
creation and consumption in mind – with a larger screen to display images and
videos captured with the most advanced camera (13MP on the rear and 8MP on the
front in the case of the K10) in a smartphone in this category.
Featuring LG’s popular Gesture Shot and Gesture Interval Shot,
taking selfies is easy and hassle-free. Gesture Shot enables users to take
photos simply by raising an open hand in front of the lens and then clenching
it into a fist. Closing one’s hand twice automatically leads to the Gesture
Interval Shot and will produce four consecutive photos. Both devices are
equipped with Flash for Selfie in the front to help users capture priceless
moments whenever and wherever the need might arise, even in the dark.
At the launch, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister,
Communications and IT, Government of India, said, “The Indian digital
ecosystem will be a $1 trillion economy in the next 5 years with $400 bn
contribution from smartphones and electronics manufacturing, 350 Bn from
IT & ITES enables services and $ 250 Bn from Communications services. LG is a
large global brand name and we are very excited that they have chosen to
manufacture mobile handsets from India. With LG smartphones consumers will have
access to governance, information and knowledge in the hands.”
Mr Kim Ki-Wan, Managing Director, LG Electronics India, said, “India is a strategic market for LG
globally and the decision to manufacture smartphones in India underscores our
commitment to our customers here. We want to tap the huge potential for
smartphones in the country and the K-series will be the first ones to be
manufactured in India. While these devices are in the sub 15k price band, they
have features typically seen only in premium devices. We are optimistic that
