130
students career ‘Flag’ed off in FLAG at Chennai
~ Companies from Manufacturing,
Marketing, IT and ITES industry attended to identify their right candidate
~ More than 450 students
from 25 colleges from across Tamilnadu participated to grab their dream career
Chennai, 4 April, 2016: FLAG, an initiative by
EmployabilityBridge to fulfill the career dream of non-metro students conducted
FLAG event today at Chennai Institute of Technology with overwhelming response
from students and companies. Top companies from across India attended to fill
vacant positions with the job seeking students from across Southern States.
Companies screened over 450 students
from different colleges and offered job letters to the selected candidates. Few
also shortlisted for final round.
TVS, Matrimony.com,
Reliance, Congruent, Decathlon, Systech, Aegis, Sodexo, Ticket Goose and Kiron were the companies
participated and they were enthused with the response from colleges and
students for the FLAG. Handing over the offers to the selected candidates the
participated companies said that FLAG model by EmployabilityBridge is a great
model to find the right talents from non-metros. It saves time, cost and
travelling to number of colleges to find our required manpower. It also
communicates that good candidates were spread across and not just in premier
institutions.
Commenting on the program Emmanuel Justus, CEO, EmployabilityBridge said that “our platform EmployabilityBridge has so far
enabled great job opportunity access to thousands of students from non-metros
across southern states. Since 2011 we played pivotal role in fulfilling the
career dreams of over 4200 students from tier II & III cities. The total
openings we brought to non-metro students was nearly 16,000 and we noticed that
the employable ratio across industry is between 30-34% thus breaks the industry
perception of 12-15% employable from the campus. Our special FLAG for women and
differently challenged have helped many to get into their dream career”
Adding more he also said that “our government’s initiatives
like Make In India, start-up encouragements and related will pave way for more
job opportunities in future. Companies too can’t fish their required talents
from premier institutes alone. They need to expand their search base for right
talents beyond premier institutions which obviously create more openings for
bright students from smaller towns. While this would be the scenario students
should also prepare themselves and grab the opportunities. The trend of
start-ups coming down to institutes in tier II & III cities for talents is
also increasing. Our past FLAGs too witnessed many.”
Ambalavanan, COO, EmployabilityBridge said that “In India 70% of colleges are located in tier II & III cities
producing many technically qualified candidates every year. But due to lack of
awareness, both among the students on job availabilities and among the
companies about these institutions from smaller cities, the good opportunities
were missed. But FLAG plays an important role in bridging the gap and
empowering the students. EmployabilityBridge plays a pivotal role in the
entire job ecosystem by exposing students with opportunities available across
multiple industries. Students should also realize that the opportunities were
not only available with MNC’s but also with mid size companies, SMEs, startup
companies etc.”
HR heads of the companies participated said that
“companies are looking for candidates with technical knowledge and other
employable skill-sets. Geography is not a restriction. Corporate prefer going
to well established colleges as the probability of getting the right candidates
are more. But this should not restrict the opportunities to the right
candidates from the tier-2/tier-3 city colleges. We are enthused with the
skills demonstrated by the students during the interview. The average
engagement period of the candidate from smaller cities with the company is also
high.”
