Rampuri Food festival at The Great Kabab Factory, Meenambakkam

The Great Kabab Factory at  Radisson BLU Hotel GRT,  near Chennai Airport is hosting  the “ Rampuri Food Festival ”  from 5th to 14th February 2016. The festival is for  lunch and dinner  ( timings: 12:30 - 3 :00pm  / 6:30 pm to 11.30pm).

Rampur is famous for  its cuisine and the famed "Rampuri" knives. It was developed mainly by the Rohilla tribe that travelled all the way from Afghanistan to finally settle in Rampur. 

The royal kitchens of Rampur worked on a format that was the norm those days. So an expert of rice would only work on rice recipes and not meat and vice versa. However, the Nawabs would often encourage them to explore and create new dishes, which allowed them to step into each other's territories and create wonders. 

Another interesting fact about Rampuri food is the use of spice blends and ingredients, that are unique to this cuisine.

At the helm of this festival is Chef Mujeeb-Ur-Rehman, a descendant of the Khansamas of Wali Ali Shah's era, who has trained for years in the royal kitchens. A globetrotting Chef, Rehman, will showcase culinary delights such as Tar korma, Gosht ke pasande, Dum ke mushroom, Kathal Korma etc., some as unique as Mirch Ka Halwa and many more, during the course of this festival.
