About IIMC: Since 1973, when the college was set up, it used to be the sole academic institution in the erstwhile undivided state of Andhra Pradesh to offer exclusive education in B.Com (Hons) with specialisation in subjects which made it easy to ace up the tougher professional courses like CA, CMA, CS, LLB and MBA courses.
At a time when most colleges in the twin cities were offering run-of-the-mill courses in B.Com or B.SC, IIMC became a coveted institution with a rigorous entrance test of its own which includes Maths, English and Essay Writing proficiency. From amongst thousands of students, only two sections of 80 seats were available for B.Com (Hons) which used to attract the best and the brightest students from the Humanities.
The college was admitted into grant-in-aid in the year 1980 and it was admitted into Sec.2 (f), 12-B of University Grants Commission in the year 1994. The college has been topping the charts in the survey of rankings of India Today as No. 1 in the country and the best in Telangana and AP. Building bridges with the alumni helped get scholarships for many subjects by some of the best outgoing students.
A Placement Bureau has also ensured that Hyderabad’s IT Hub from Amazon to ADP, HDFC to Genpact and from Factset to Franklin Templeton have absorbed the IIMC students from various streams. Today, the college offers not just the flagship course of B.Com (Hons) but also B.Com and B.Com ( Computers), BBA, B.Sc (Computers) and M.Com courses.
It had a relentless focus on global exposure, all-round personality development which included sports and games. It used to be the only college in AP to have accreditation to AISEC (the international Student Body of Students in Economics and Commerce whose alumni includes Treasury Secretaries and Central Bank Governors).
“Diffusion” the youth festival and “Bizzique” (the Business quiz) and the first real Stock Exchange Simulation Game were just some of the innovations that IIMC alumni have created with able support and guidance of the many illustrious Principals and Faculty.
Over the past three decades, the college built reputation in making IIMC to be among the best academic institution with the best of library and e-library (with a global access to thousands of books).
