Students from St. Andrews School win the City
Finals of ‘Pearson National School Quiz competition
St. Andrews school won the City Finals round of Pearson National School Quiz competition
held in Hyderabad.
The team won the first round and will be representing the
region for the nation-wide series of the prestigious competition to be held
across 11 cities through the month of November, followed by a semi- final and grand
finale round which would be organized at Bangalore,
in December 2015.
Miss Sadhana Adkay
from 8th Std. and Master Sai Sanhith from 7th Std.of St Andrews School comprised the
winning team. 219 of the best teams from across Hyderabad congregated to
compete for the title.
Hillside School
-Jubilee Hills Road, Pearson Schools-Kompally and Vista Schools- Gachibowli
hosted the competitions in Hyderabad.
The
competition aimed at creating an opportunity for students to showcase their
talent at a national platform
featured a perfect amalgamation of individual competition and team collaboration.
The format of the quiz is structured in a manner that not only tests the
knowledge of students but also requires them to apply sophisticated team tactics.
The students engaged in an intellectual battle throughout the quiz. It acted as
the perfect platform for students to learn the importance of fostering team
spirit and indulging in healthy competition.

The questions at the quiz ranged from an
entire spectrum of topics from the school curriculum of 5th-8thgrade
and also included a certain amount of current events, sports, and popular
culture. Pearson has partnered with Nexus Consulting for the content, conduct
and research of the competition.
Pitting
their wit and knowledge against teams from Indian
Global International School, All
Saint High School, Holy Angels High School, St. Andrews, Good Shepherd School,
Suchithra Academy, Vignan Global Gen, to name a few, the students from St Andrews School sustained
momentum till the end eventually attaining the City Finals title.
The team
scored the highest points in the quiz and answered questions in the shortest
span of time.
Commenting on the victory of the students in the first round, Harish Doraiswamy,

This quiz intends to promote healthy competition among students. It is
extremely important to put competition to educational use in an ever-evolving

platforms for students to showcase their talent on a national platform.”
At the city level round, screening tests are
held initially from which 8 teams comprising 2 students will eventually
represent the finals on stage.
The team that wins this level moves forward into
the semi-finals to be held at Bangalore
in December 2015 followed by finals on the same day.
The cost of travel to Bangalore and accommodation, for attending the National
Finals will be borne by Pearson for members of the city-level winning team,
with one accompanying teacher.
