Unfortunately,
India ranks amongst the least financially literate nations in the world.
According to a study conducted by Visa, we ranked 23rd amongst the 28 countries
that took part in it and includes urban, Indian professionals as well, thus
making the current population largely prepared to face their financial future.
Research
has claimed that one in four employees is suffering from serious financial
distress. Nearly 30% to 80% of financially distressed workers spend time at
their place of employment dealing with financial issues instead of working.
Therefore, organizations are starting to recognize the importance of financial
literacy in the workplace by realizing that when employees manage their money
well, they are less stressed, happy
and
more productive.
The
Economic Times Financial Literacy Camps have been designed to help connect
working professionals with the gurus of financial markets. These financial
literacy forums/ investor meets would have experts from various fields of
finance - Insurance, Investments and Stock Markets sharing their insights and
informing them about various tools of investment available.
Spread
across 12 cities in India, the primary mission of these initiatives is to
enhance the level of financial and economic literacy of individuals thus
promoting professional development and wellbeing at an organizational level.
The
workshops will be COnducted in Mumbai, Delhi,
Ahmedabad,
Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Surat, Kochi, Jaipur,
Hyderabad,
Gurgaon. They will comprise of evening sessions between
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by Hi-Tea.
