OPPO launches 4G Neo7 Smartphone in Tamil Nadu

Now OPPO Enters fully to 4G time

OPPO, the global electronics and technology service provider that delivers the latest and most exquisite mobile electronic devices in over 20 countries, today launched the high speed and advanced technology “4G Neo7 Smartphone” in Tamil Nadu. The price is Rs. 9,990. The favourable 4G market is also playing a key role in the sale OPPO mobile phones.

Addressing the Media, Mr. Kai Feng, Vice General Manager, OPPO said, “India is a huge market with lot of diversity and our ability to offer a wide range of different devices drives our growth. The company aims to supply more quality 4G smart phones. Currently we have 4G in Find 7a, Find 7, R5, R7lite, R7 plus and Neo 7. Our ultimate aim is to focus more on solving the pain-points of customers. We aim to capture a decent market share and expect more than 200 per cent sales growth and 1.5 million unit sales by the end of fiscal 2015 in India. We aim to be among the Top three brands in Tamil Nadu by the end of 2016.

OPPO smart phones will be assembled in India in association with Foxconn, which are expected to hit the shelves shortly. The company is in talks with electronics assembly manufacturer Foxconn to start an assembly line for its smartphones in the Sri City plant special economic zone in Andhra Pradesh.

OPPO has earmarked Rs. 25 crore for Branding in India for the current fiscal. The company is also working on expanding its retail presence in the country from 4,600 points of sale to 8,000-10,000 by the end of this year. OPPO is currently focusing on strengthening the offline channel. 1,000 engineers in research and development team and 50 percent of this workforce is working to understand and deliver the needs of Indian consumers.

Talking about the strategy and focus of the company in India, Mr. Kai said, “India is a very interesting market with significant growth still to be found in the sector.  The way consumers choose and buy smartphones is continuously evolving and you need to have a diverse portfolio of products and price points to appeal to a wide range of consumers. We are focusing only on retail Market, Right now we are retailing in over 20 major cities and regions across the nation, mainly through multi-brand stores. We are looking at more nation-wide channel partners so that we can satisfy the huge customer need at the earliest.

 “We are developing products domestically in China for the Indian market. We have a full fledged team working in China for Made for India products. We are also considering Make In India as well for the best interest of our consumers. For, Make In India- we are considering the assembly unit soon but our own factory will be planned by next year.”

About their sales strategy and market, Mr. Kai added “In India, we have sold around 400,000 devices and are targeting 1.5 million smartphones by end of financial year In Tamilnadu, we have sold about 40,000 devices and we are targeting for 1,50,000 smartphones by end of March 2016.  With new products launching in the Indian market, we aim to achieve this target. Based on the local insight, we will focus more on product planning in the year ahead and based on the consumer research, we will invest more in branding construction. Lastly, we plan to build a strong local team to deliver the best.”
“We are focusing on giving our consumer best of services in terms of quality, technology and features which can be very well seen in our current range of models. E-commerce channels are growing fast, but also the general trade/retail market is also huge and growing. We are mainly focussing on offline sales model, in tier 1 and tier 2 cities and plan to expand into tier 3 soon. We will build more exclusive OPPO shops and aim to bring more consumer satisfaction. By end of this year, we plan to produce new products that range between Rs. 8000 to Rs. 20, 000.”
Towards strengthening the distribution network and motivating and educating dealers and retailers, a meet is planned for them on Sunday and also to introduce OPPO’s 4G Time to all on 1st November 2015 at Leela Palace, Chennai.
