All the 14 samples carried the picture of “GROUND NUTS” on the front panel of the packets indicating that the product inside was
groundnut oil.
8. On analysis of the packets
and quality parameters of oils in a
laboratory most of them were not found to be ground nut oil.
9.
As per Food Safety Standards Rules 2011 and
Regulations 2011 all food packets should carry FSSAI Logo and Licence Number
·
But only 21% had FSSAI Logo and 79% failed
·
Only 36% carried FSSAI Licence Number and 64% did
not carry licence number.

The above
observations indicate that consumers are targeted with cheaper oil in the name
of Ground Nut Oil. Their belief on
consuming ground nut oil for its taste, flavor and quality was in vain. They were not only economically but also nutritionally
deceived.
Edible
oil Is an essential nutrient and contributes oil soluble vitamins and highest amount of energy for the
body.
As a surprise check we also tested one sunflower
oil which was found to contain 50% cotton seed oil and 50% palmolien
