Over 1,000 professionals, and 400 IIT
Bombay students braved the rain on Saturday, for a flood of insights into
the entrepreneurial journey. UpGrad, an online education venture for working
professionals, hosted ‘Learn and Grow’ in partnership with iimjobs.com, Matrix
Partners and IIT Bombay eCell.
At ‘The Road to Scale’ panel discussion, Tarun
Davda, Director Matrix Venture Partners refined his experiences as an
investor within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, into a three-point mantra,
“Hungry, hustling and humble.” Ronnie Screwvala, Co-Founder,
UpGrad reinforced that “phenomenal leaders have an extreme sense of
humility.”
Ambareesh Murty, CEO & Co-Founder
Pepperfry stressed the
need for flexibility, “Never be attached to anything you own,” while Advitiya
Sharma, Co-Founder Housing.com pushed for drive and passion,
“Do work that makes you fully proud or else keep sitting.”
The verdict was out on whether
entrepreneurship can be taught, with Murty arguing for hands-on experience and
Davda staking education as the necessary foundation.

Mayank Kumar, Co-founder and Managing
Director, UpGrad,
settled the question saying, “UpGrad will equip aspiring entrepreneurs with
real-life cases from industry and thought leaders, and with the frameworks to
solve for the many challenges at each stage of their entrepreneurial journey.”
UpGrad has recently started the
application process for the 15-week Entrepreneurship program ‘StartUp with
UpGrad’ launching end of November. The Mumbai-based 30-member team of UpGrad is
streamlining content, technology, sales, marketing and customer service to
deliver a dedicated and engaging online learning experience.
The upcoming event at IIT Delhi on
Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 2 pm will bring yet more wit, wisdom,
experience, and inspiration to the table. Panelists include Deep Kalra Founder,
Makemytrip; Radhika Aggarwal, CMO & Sanjay Sethi, Co-Founder, ShopClues;
Ankit Pruthi, Co-Founder, Unicommerce, and Ronnie Screwvala. Registrations are
