Every
home begins with a memory. The four lines we draw with a crayon
and color
with our imagination is the first step
we take towards owning a home we
would love to call our own.
Slowly, the drawings take life and
we add a room,
a family picture, a brightly coloured door and
a garden
with a pond. The sunrise in the background
and the crows flying in the clear blue sky
with cloud fluffs makes
it so real that we actually
dream of owning that home sometime too soon.

They become our dream homes eventually

neat brick houses with doors that open
to a pretty garden and windows
facing
a vast expanse of water sparkling
in the sunlight...
kids cycling around and children climbing
trees...
The beach around the corner,
fishing boats gliding silently over the velvety dark waters.
Everyday we add a little memory to this house
and make it our home.
A
living room with a sofa, a kitchen with
a cheeni bharani and uruli, the
all pervading
whiff of spices, memorable dinners
and meals eaten off a
banana leaf.
..
rain soaked afternoons and paper boats to
faraway oceans and kingdoms...
a world of nostalgia and warm hearted
people
that’s so Home.
