Increase Your Pain Tolerance via Yoga..

A t American Pain Society's annual meet, researchers said that yoga can reverse the effects of chronic pain in brain anatomy.

Yoga practitioners may have more grey matter in many ANIMISHA brain regions including those for pain modulation.

“Insulagrey matter size correlates with pain tolerance, and increases in insula grey matter can result from on going yoga practice,“ said M Catherine Bushnell, PhD, Scientific Director, Division of Intramural Research, National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, NIH.

She Broke Her Heroin Habit..!

A former model uses tales of sex, drugs and rock and roll in a recently released book to introduce the healing power of yoga sequences and demonstrate how the ancient practice of breath and meditation can fortify the mind as well as the body.
In `Yoga for Life:
A Journey to Peace and Freedom,' Colleen Saidman Yee, a former fashion model turned yoga teacher, recounts how yoga helped her battle a heroin habit, epilepsy and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after she was injured in a car accident when she was 15 years old.

Cope Better with Irritation, Injury..!

One of the largest studies on yoga, led by a Ohio State University professor of psychiatry and psychology Janice Kiecolt-Glaser, shows that yoga can alter the way the body reacts to irritation or injury.

Two hundred breast cancer patients were enrolled in the study and were divided into two groups.

The first was asked to practice yoga and the other continue with its usual routine.

After three months, Keicolt Glaser said, the yoga practitioners reported more vitality and less fatigue than the other group.

“Poor sleep fuels fatigue, and fatigue fuels inflammation. Yoga has been shown to reduce stress and help people sleep better,“ she said.

Do Purposeful Exercise, Sleep Well..!

You sleep better with exercises such as yoga, gardening or a simple walk.
But purposeful exercises like yoga might be more effective than a meandering walk, according to a study done on 4,29,110 adults.
However, exercises linked to responsibilities like household work or childcare are not as helpful.

“Lab studies show that lack of sleep is associated with poor physical and mental performance, and this study shows us that this is consistent with real-world data as well,“ said the lead author Dr Michael Grandner.
