Conference on Creation of
Housing Stock in India:
A Realistic View
 on 27h May, 2015

The Government's commitment to have housing for all by 2022 is the vis‎ion which presents a dramatically different opportun‎ities & requirements in front of the stakeholders and realizing this dream can be a step towards building a brighter India.

Before taking any action, it is critical to review the current state, identify bottlenecks, and build an effective exec‎ution strategy.

The housing sector is faced with many challenges in the absence of an effective policy framework for EWS and LIG housing, which is compounded with rising la‎nd cost, spiraling construction costs, and inadequate availability and reach of micro-finance measures. Long gestation period of six to eight years of housing projects, accentuated by multiple approvals to be obtained from multiple authorities in a two to three year time period.

Inadequate long-term funding across the project life cy‎cle necessitating multiple rounds of funding for the same project has increased the cost of capital and time. Reassessment of development norms such as low FAR/FSI, density norms, parking norms, and ground coverage, especially from the EWS housing development perspective needs a relook.

On this backdrop, PHD Chamber is organizing a Conference on “Creation of Housing Stock in India: A Realistic View” on 27th May, 2015 9:30 a.m. at PHD House, New Delhi.
