Fresh buttermilk at The Chennai Silks
The Chennai Silks, located in the central business district of Chennai, has made it an annual ritual to help the common man and its customers during the hot summer. Fresh buttermilk not only quenches the thirst but also beats the heat literally.
Almost 100 liters of buttermilk is distributed free to anyone who wants it at the Chennai Silks stores in T. Nagar and Velachery from 10.00 am onwards and distribution goes on till about 2.00 pm. This is done by the staff of the Chennai Silks. This yeomen service has been invoked for the last six years.

According to Mr. Ravindhran, General Manager, The Chennai Silks, “There is no drink more refreshing and energizing during the summer than the simple buttermilk. Young, old, auto rickshaw drivers, pedestrians, shoppers and our own customers look forward to the season when Chennai Silks starts this humane public service. We are proud, that at least 2000 people everyday get respite from the scorching heat by gulping down a glass of nutritious buttermilk. The service will be continued throughout the months of April, May and June.”
