Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Thandalam, part of the Rajalakshmi Group of Institutions celebrated its Annual Day in a grand and purposeful manner on 2ndApril 2015.
Dr. Mrs. Thangam Meganathan, Chairperson, Rajalakshmi Group delivered the Presidential address and welcomed the Guests of Honor, faculty, students, parents, invitees etc.
Mr. Manikandan Raghavan, Vice President , Airtel and Mr. N. Muralidharan,GM, Corporate Human Resources, Ashok Leyland were the Guests of Honor.
Dr. G. Thanigaiyarasu, Principal, REC presented the College annual report of the academic year 2014 -15.
The College has made rapid progress in all fronts and is acknowledged as one of the best colleges is South India. The College offers 10 undergraduate programmes, 10 postgraduate programmes in engineering, technology, management and computer applications, with a total annual intake of 1770 students. Currently, there are 5465 students studying in UG and PG programs. Nine Departments of the college are recognized Research Centres of Anna University, for carrying out Doctoral Programmes.
The College secured 75 university ranks. Ms. M. Vennila of M.E. Medical Electronics and Ms. S. Chithra of M.E. Embedded Systems secured University Gold Medals.
Addressing Students, Mr. Manikandan Raghavan said that students should think logically, rationally and critically to achieve success. Rajalakshmi Institutions have focused on these aspects which is translating into excellent products in the form of award winning students.
Mr. N. Muralidharan stressed the need for team work and perfect understanding to move forward in any organization. He said that the future is bright for the students who are prepared to take ownership and responsibility. Opportunities will come to those who are prepared to take that extra effort even in difficult circumstances. He added that Rajalakshmi today is a name to reckon with in the corporate world. Many students have secured awards and medals from participating in various national level technical competitions and professional society events. Certificates, trophies and various cash prizes were given to these commendable students by the Guests of Honor.
721 students have been placed so far in software companies like TCS, L&T, Wipro, Sutherland and core companies like Ashok Leyland, JK Tyres & Johnson Control etc.
