Over 700 girls took their first career step at ‘All
Women FLAG’
Top recruiters from across India called in today at
‘All Women FLAG’ by EmployabilityBridge and CII at Coimbatore to fill more than
1000 openings with the job seeking women students from across the southern states.
EmployabilityBridge, a company that facilitates corporate from across
India and educational institutions from non-metros to place the right candidate
in the right job profile has organized its 35th FLAG and first ‘ALL Women FLAG’ program in
association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today in Coimbatore
at Park Group of Institutions.
Today’s FLAG event saw
enthusiastic participation by the girl students from across the southern
states. Students from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karanataka and Andhra were eagerly
attended the career event FLAG and proved their mettle to pick the offer
letters. Companies from multiple industries including e-learning, KPO, IT,
manufacturing and ITES participated to find their right talents.
Integra, HCL,
Mphasis, i2 cooking, HGS, Leecos and Williams Lea were the companies
participated and they were enthused by the response from colleges and students
for the ALL Women FLAG 2015. Handing over the offers to the selected candidate
the participated companies said that FLAG model by EmployabilityBridge is a
great model to find the right talents from non-metros. It saves time, cost and
travelling to number of colleges to find our required manpower. It also
communicates that good candidates were spread across and not just only from
premier institutions.
Commenting on the program Emmanuel Justus, CEO, EmployabilityBridge
said “our platform EmployabilityBridge has so far enabled great job opportunity
access to thousands of students from non-metros across southern states. Since
2011 we played pivotal role in fulfilling the career dreams of over 3000
students from tier II & III cities. After successfully enabling the job
access to engineering students from non-metros, FLAG now enabled the access to
students pursuing subjects in the fields of Arts, Science and Management.”
“Most of the Indian Financial
Heads are women, however in our experience; we felt women from Tier 2/ 3 cities
were not aware of the opportunities available for them. They do not realize that they can succeed and
grow in their career at a Manufacturing or Non-IT company. However the majority of the student engineers
these days are women. This is what
prompted us to come up with an all Women FLAG. All Women FLAG will help the
women students to pursue their dream career as well as increase importance of
their role which they play in today’s workplace. . Each FLAG has resulted in 12 to 15% employability;
aggregating the employability ratio touched 34% across the year.” added Emmanuel
Justus.
Thanking the
opportunity provided to address the enthusiastic girl students Mrs. Sangeeta Talwar, Managing Partner, Fly
Vision Consulting said “every day is women’s day; celebrate and live the
day. Its women who didn’t changed their mindset since human evolution from
cooking, taking care of home, children etc. and hesitate to break it even after
centuries. You should not feel that you are caged or boxed; it’s you the only
person have the power to open it. Dream, be focused on what you want to
achieve, accept the challenge and walk to achieve it. While walking towards the
success I also suggest to train yourself to balance both the career and family.
And she also asked the family members to encourage the girl in the family to
reach her dream. Support and encouraging will help the girl to achieve her
dream soon. She also said that encouragement comes only when we talk. Hence
talk to the family and gain their support as well.”
CII, Coimbatore chapter representative said “Coimbatore and nearby
regions are known for its quality education. The region has many colleges with
good infrastructure facilities and gives out many qualified graduates to the
society every year. But the good opportunities to the students were missed due
to lack of awareness both among the students on job availability and among the
companies about the institutions. But events like FLAG play an important role
in bridging the gap and empowering the students. SMEs which are going to play a
vital role in achieving our Prime Minister’s dream project “Make in India”
should use FLAG to find their right resource. I would like to invite SMEs in
our region to use the platform to grow with the right resource”
CII representative also said that “I
also take pleasure to inform you all that CII has a special network for women
called Indian Women Network (IWN). This exclusive
organization is for career women, professionals, entrepreneurs and students.
Currently it is working in the field of i) Learning & Development ii) Health
& Wellbeing iii) Policy & Advocacy of women.”
Ambalavanan, CTO, EmployabilityBridge said “EmployabilityBridge plays a pivotal role in the entire job
ecosystem by exposing students with opportunities available across multiple
industries – Manufacturing, Engineering, IT, Electrical, Servicing, KPO,
Finance, Automotive, Electronics etc. These opportunities are not only
available with MNC’s but also with mid size companies, SMEs, startup etc. Pre-counseling
and processes before meeting the companies by FLAG helps the students to
identify their skills and get good opportunity.”
Anusha Ravi, CEO, PARK Group of Institutions said that “Park institute is happy to host the women students
from colleges across the southern states. This is our first year of association
with EmployabilityBridge and we are proud to host first ever All Women FLAG for
2015. FLAG is really a good opportunity for the students to get access to
leading companies across the country. We are happy and confident that our
students will fulfill the expectations of the recruiters and excels. I wish more such FLAG events should be organized for girl
students to widen opportunities.”
She also
added that “all avenues are awaiting; you need courage to take it. If you don’t
get job go-ahead with your own entrepreneurship”
HR heads of the
companies participated said that “companies are looking for candidates with
technical knowledge and other employable skill-sets. Geography is not a
restriction. Corporate prefer going to well established colleges as the
probability of getting the right candidates are more. But this should not
restrict the opportunities to the right candidates from the tier-2/tier-3 city colleges.
We are enthused with the skills demonstrated by the students during the
interview. The average engagement period of the candidate from smaller cities
with the company is also high.”
EmployabilityBridge’s next FLAG is at Trichy during March 2015.

About FLAG:
FLAG is series of
intelligent graduate hiring events conducted by EmployabilityBridge
in partnership with CII to open up access to better job opportunities for the final
year students from tier II and tier III cities. Of the total number of
educational institutions in India over 70% are in tier II and tier III cities.
Barring the top few institutions at bigger cities the others have minimal or no
access by the corporate for campus recruiting. This neglects the right
opportunity for the right candidate mere for a reason he/she in small cities.
