Litagram, a Short Story Publishing Platform for Indian Languages Launched

The Chennai based  Notion Press, the fastest growing self-publishing company in India  has  launched Litagram,  a platform to publish short stories in English and 9 Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi and Gujarati. To  coincide with the launch,  Notion Press is conducting their annual  nationwide social short story contest  on the Litagram platform and will  give away prizes worth Rs. 1 lakh to the winners and an opportunity to get winning entries  published in their next anthology of short stories.

“After the success of last year’s contest in which more than 2 million readers participated,  we were approached by several  other authors,  who write in regional languages to create a platform, where they could showcase their work.  Exactly a year later, we are proud to launch Litagram – a social story telling platform where authors and readers connect via stories. The best part is we are launching with 9 Indian languages and hope to add support for more in the near future . ” According to  Naveen Valsakumar, one of the founders of Notion Press.

On Litagram, authors can publish short stories while readers can rate and review the stories they like the most. Litagram is tightly integrated with Facebook to enable frictionless sharing of stories with friends. “We have also built various gamification features like badges and reward points to encourage users to write and read more stories, and to give them a rich user experience. We plan to run regular contests on Litagram in various languages to showcase the talent of young writers from India.” said Bhargava Adepalley, Chief Developer and Co-Founder of Notion Press.

This young team behind Litagram feels that popularizing the shorter form of literature is the best way to inculcate reading and writing habit among millennials. Allowing people to publish in Indian languages enables them to write again in their mother tongue and also opens up a whole new world of possibilities for Indian language publishing.
The first leg of the social short story contest in English is open  till 10th April 2015. Authors can submit  any unpublished story  in  1500 to 2500 words in English.   The contest is open to all Indian nationals above the age of 13 holding a Facebook account. Winners will be chosen based on a unique combination of votes from readers and publishing industry experts. The entry is free and to participate in this contest, visit  http://litagram.com. Contests in other languages will soon follow.
