Dr. A. Sakthivel, Southern Regional Chairman, FIEO...!

Dr. A. Sakthivel has been elected unanimously as Southern Regional Chairman of Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).  FIEO is the apex export promotion body set up by Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and FIEO members contribute more than 72% of India’s exports.

Dr. A. Sakthivel served as FIEO President during the year 2008-2010 and also Regional Chairman of FIEO for three terms during the year 2002 to 2010.  He has also served as Vice President of FIEO for two years. Dr. A. Sakthivel presently is the President, Tirupur Exporters Association and also Past President of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore and Chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council.

Dr. A. Sakthivel is a prominent personality amongst the exporting community whose contribution for the development of Textile and Knitting Garment industry is well known.  As a man of visionary, he visualized the directions and dimensions of growth of knitwear industry and Shown his ability in planning and successful establishment of Tirupur Export Knitwear Industrial Complex - TEKIC, establishment of Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Tirupur, Knitwear Processing Production Complex – TEAKTEX, New Tirupur Area Development Corporation Limited (NTADCL) for perennial water supply to Tirupur, NIFT-TEA Fashion Knitwear Institute,  Netaji Apparel Park, India Knit Fair Association(IKFA), Textile Eco Solutions Tamilnadu Limited (TEST), India Trade Centre, Sharjah etc.

Dr. Sakthivel has been awarded Padma Shri Award during the year 2009  for his outstanding contribution to Indian exports and yeoman services rendered for development of infrastructure in Tirupur. He was also awarded honorary doctorate by Bharatiar University for his services to the development of textile industry and society.

Dr. A. Sakthivel is Chairman of Poppys Knitwear Private Limited, Tirupur which is a leading Star Export House recognized by Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and pioneer in Introducing organic cotton garments from India to European and USA markets.

During his earlier tenure as President as well as Regional Chairman, FIEO Dr. A. Sakthivel done commendable job in solving several issues of exporters and also the Instrumental for bringing many Innovative schemes and Initiatives by Government of India which helped in the growth of exports from India.

With his dynamism, initiative and dedication to the international trade, FIEO expect to take greater heights of its activities to next level as FIEO is Celebrating its golden Jubilee during this year.
