IRDAI to Campaign Against Insurance Mis-selling

The Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (IRDAI) plans to launch a countrywide campaign to raise awareness against mis-selling & spurious calls.

The procurement committee of the regulator has sanctioned Rs. 8 crore for a television commercial.
In recent times, there has been a spurt in calls from fake representatives, who cite the name of insurance companies such as LIC of India and ask people to make payments on false grounds.
Gold Demand: India Surpasses China's

 According to data from the World Gold Council, India's consumption of gold crossed China's in 2014.

 It stood at 842 tonnes compared to 974 tonnes in 2013. China's consumption in 2014 stood at 813 tonnes compared to 1,065 tonnes in the previous year.

The jewellery segment was the major contributor to demand in India. Demand from this segment rose 8% from 612.7 tonnes in 2013 to 662.1 tonnes in 2014.
