COMFORT AND PEACE
Irrespective of building materials or architectural style, some spaces breed an instant feeling of
comfort and peace. This comfort and peace is not accidental but can be achieved consciously.
Designs, across regions and cultures, share one common element and that is the balanced presence
of the five elements of nature and this is termed as balanced design.
FIVE ELEMENTS OF NATURE
Generally, good health is a state of balance between body, mind and spirit along with various kinds of
emotions or senses.

connection with the built environment based on the presence of the five elements of nature. Sunlight
streaming in soft fluid shadows stretching and maturing as the day progresses, air moving through the home, the sounds and texture of water flowing - these are all elements that determine the mood and balance of a space.
Likewise, the colours, textures and materials used can make a space feel heavy or light.

abundant naturalsky light into a house.
However, harsh sunlight can be muted by using screens that will also throw interesting shadows. Mirrors increase the scale of a space.
These visual effects can also be played positively through appropriate materials and colours. Depending on the functionality of the space, the elements can be tweaked to create an ambience that is positive and healthy.
POSITIVE ENERGY
Each era has been opting for different kinds of materials. While the type and range of
material and styles are region specific, the fundamental nature of design remains the same in terms of breeding comfort and positive energy.
The final evolution of the style and material used is an individual choice, as long as the presence of the five elements of nature is made an integral part of the space.
If a house is constructed considering this balanced design, there will be mental peace in that house.
