Scania showcases
all new R 580 V8 Truck and P410 Tipper with 20 cum rock body at BaumaConExpo
Participating in the prestigious BaumaConExpo
2014, Scania Commercial Vehicles IndiaPvt.Ltd., a leading premium commercial
vehicles and engines manufacturer,launched and showcased state-of-the-art
products and services today.
Among the much awaited launch were the most
powerful on-road truck in India, the Scania R 580 V8 (6x4) truck and market
leading Scania P410 (8X4) Tipper with all-new
20 cubic meter SSAB body. At the expo Scania alsolaunched Scania Oil and enhanced
telematics services – ScaniaFleet Management.On display was also two mobile
workshops showing Scania´s flexible container concept for services and repairs
in remote places.
Speaking at the Expo, Mr. Anders Grundströmer,Managing Director, Scania India and
Senior Vice President, Scania Group said, “It is
a privilege to launch our products and services at Bauma Expo.
This season of
Bauma Expo is very significant to Scania as we are launching India’s most
powerful on-road Truck R 580 powered with V8 engine, and in addition we are
also updating our product portfolio with Scania P410 Tipper equipped with all
new 20 cubic meter SSAB body to withstand the toughest mining conditions. Keeping
our promise of providing uncompromised service support, we are also launching
Scania Oil for the first time in India to give our customers additional
advantage in terms of vehicle performance and uptime.
Our Fleet Management
Service (FMS) was first displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 and now we are
launching it for all our customers in India. With FMS, fleet operators can
monitor the vehicle performance in real time, and this gives lot of scope for
enhanced safety, productivity and uptime.”
The Scania R 580 6x4comes with powerful
V8 engine, first time in India.The vehicle will offer high torque at low speed
which is essential for over-dimensional cargo (ODC) transport. The Scania V8 engineis
coupled with great characteristics such asexcellent drivability, outstanding
Total Operating Economy and refined vehicle handling and maneuvering qualities.
A pioneer by itself, Scania R 580 is set to redefine the truck industry in

The Scania P 410 8x4Tipperis an existing
product which will now be equipped with 20 cubic meterrock body developed by
one of the world’s leading producer of high strength steel, SSAB. The Scania
P410 Tipper is a great success in theIndian mining sector. Equipped with
ScaniaOpticruise, a fully automated gear-changing system for best fuel
efficiency and ease of driving,will now also come with an option of Idle
Shutdown a feature that further strengthens the Total Operating Economy by
lowering the fuel consumption. Also, the complete tipper is significantly lower
in weight than current offerings in the market, and with the increased load
carrying capacity the customer gets a significantly higher productivity.
Keeping
up with the promise of unmatched aftermarket service through strong service
points, Scania will now also make available the genuine Scania Oil to its
customers. The Scania oil is available both as engine oil as well as axle and
gear oil. It prevents from sludge and adherence and protects from corrosion and
wear,all leading to longer service intervals.

BaumaConexpo Show
The bC India
- A BAUMA CONEXPO SHOW, International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery,
Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles, took
place from December 15 to 18, 2014 at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida /
Delhi. In total, 170,000 square meters of exhibition space was made available
to the event at this venue. The last event in February 2013 in Mumbai attracted
a total of 710 companies from 33 countries and more than 28,000 trade visitors.
Scania India
Scania has been represented in the Indian market since 2007. In 2011,
Scania established the company Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd.to
strengthen its presence through sales to additional segments of the Indian
commercial vehicle market and to widen its offer of Sustainable Transport
Solutions. Scania has launched a range of on-road haulage truck models
specially adapted for the Indian market - the R 500 6x4, the G 460 6x4 and the
G410 6x2 and also the off-road P 410 8x4 Mining and Coal Tipper. Scania has a
partnership with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in the Mining segment.
In the beginning of 2013 Scania launched a new bus range, ScaniaMetrolink
12, 13.7 and 14.5 m to meet the growing need of Safer, Sustainable and
Comfortable travelling. The new bus range is purpose-designed for luxury
Intercity or Charter travels.
Scania has world class experience in mobility solutions run on biofuels
and Scania brings this unique offer to India. Scania handed over the first
ethanol run City bus in India to the city of Nagpur in August 2014. Public
transport on ethanol buses is a cost effective way of reducing several of the
city's environmental problems. The solutions developed create the necessary
preconditions for comfortable commuting and also better living conditions in
city centers, without requiring major investments in new infrastructure. With
this ethanol bus we also introduce an engine complying with Bharat stage 5,
which is a huge step to minimize emissions. Biofuels is the sustainable
solution for urban public transport available here and now.
The company inaugurated its first Industrial Facility, Truck production,
in Narasapura, Bangalore, in October 2013. With an investment of Rs.300 crore,
this facility also serves as the centre of the company’s commercial operations
in the country. In the next phase Scania has set up its second facility, Bus
production, to further expand Scania’s ambition in offering state of the art
Sustainable Transport Solutions.The service workshop and a central parts
warehouse, is housed at the same site.
Scania ambitions is to sell 2,500 trucks and 1,000
buses per year in the Indian market within the next years and employ 1200
people at this facility.
