BSE reviews list of stocks in ‘A’ Group
periodically. It is done biannually. Present criteria for Group ‘A’ stocks
considers market capitalization and liquidity of securities.
Presently 200 companies are eligible to be
included in ‘A’ Group. Number of listed companies on BSE has increased from
4732 in March 2004 to 5458 in August 2014.
The average number of daily traded stocks on BSE
has also increased over a period and presently around 3000 companies are traded
daily. So the Executive Management Committee has decided to include 300
companies into ‘A’ Group.
Over the last few years many qualitative aspects
like Corporate Governance, Compliance track record, Responsible / Sustainable
Investment etc have emerged as important criteria in evaluation of stocks for
investment decisions.
The Committee has therefore decided to consider
these factors also in the review of Group ‘A’ stocks, with market
capitalization and liquidity continued to be major components constituting 75%
weight in the evaluation. Balanced 25% weight is allocated to Corporate
Governance (10%), Compliance Track Record (10%), Responsible / Sustainable
Investment (5%).
The Exchange has revised the list of Group ‘A’,
comprising of 300 stocks based on June 2014 quarter performance. This will be
effective from October 7, 2014:
a) Companies moving out from A Group.
