India
would be one of the leading Nations with a young population of 76.50 cr, by
2030. This is almost half the population of the country as on today. Children
spend almost 30 % of their time and about 20 % of their life in schools.
Therefore,
developing healthy school environments should be a top priority for the Private
sector & Governments. Access to dust-free environments, good sanitation,
natural lighting and ventilation, hygiene and general awareness on the
principles of protecting our Nature would go a long way in preparing the young
children for a future that would be bright, challenging and prosperous. It
would even impact the way that children would think, act and feel in ways that
are responsible.

Green Education committee..
To
take forward this agenda, CII has formed the Green Education committee
comprising of members from Industry, Educational Institutions and NGO's. The
objective of the committee is to spearhead Green School movement in India.
IGBC
is spearheading the green school movement in India by enabling sustainably
built infrastructure, landscaping, conservation of biodiversity, promoting
essay and painting competitions on water savings, waste management & energy
conservation and many other initiatives Against this background, Indian Green
Building Council (IGBC) is organizing an exclusive Conference on Green Schools
on 6 SEPTEMBER 2014 at HICC, Hyderabad.
