Salaried assesses in Chennai with taxable income below Rs. 5 lakh can file returns in these counters, while assesses from Kancheepuram & Tambaram circles can file returns at the Nungambakkam office at counters operated for them.
"Assesses having income under the head 'salaries' are requested to avail themselves of this facility and I -T return forms (ITR-1) - (SAHAJ) can be downloaded from www.incometaxindia.gov.in, according to a press release issued here on July 25, 2014 by T. Jayasankar, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and Director-General of Income Tax (Investigation)-Chennai.
Manyl nationalised banks will also operate extension counters to enable assesses to pay tax if any. "The assesses are requested to incorporate their permanent account number (PAN), bank account number, IFSC code & mobile number in the return," said Mr. Jayasankar.

Forty - two special counters, including 12 for senior citizens, will work for filing of Income Tax returns, for which the last date is July 31, 2014
Mr. Jayasankar also said special counters were being opened by IT offices in Tiruchi, Madurai & Coimbatore, too.

In the returns, the assessees should add their PAN number, bank account number, IFSC code and mobile number.
He said that as against the target of Rs. 42,827 crore, the IT department realised Rs. 42,524 crore last year. The target for this year was Rs. 51,133 crore, 20% higher than that of the previous year.
