practices and won the “Best Company in Developing People Managers” award.
The survey
is part of the “India’s Best Companies to Work For – 2014 Study” conducted by
the Great Place to Work® Institute, India and The Economic Times
and
measures employers' effectiveness in creating a workplace environment that
engages employees and enables them to deliver real competitive advantage
contributing to superior business performance.
On the
occasion, Mr RS Subramanian, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DHL
Express India said, “It is an honor for us to be recognized as one of the best
companies to work for in India. We are proud to be ranked 16 among 599
participating companies and be named the No 1 company in the Transportation
industry. Our employees make the winning difference for us and this endorsement
belongs to every one of the 2100 strong team members of DHL Express. I am also delighted
see our leadership development practices get a special award, for our frontline
leaders really make it happen for us every day!”
Over the
years, DHL has invested significantly in a number of employee enriching
practices and programs including the Certified International Specialist (CIS)
program. CIS is an award-winning program which has been instrumental in
instituting a cultural transformation within DHL Express and training employees
on the fundamentals of international shipping and enhancing their knowledge of
essential aspects. To date, the CIS program has been delivered to over 100,000
employees in more than 220 countries and territories worldwide, making it one
of the largest corporate training programs ever implemented. The materials have
been translated into 42 languages.
“Winning the
Great Place to Work Award is a significant endorsement for us and we are very
proud to lead the way in the industry. One of our targets in our 2015 Strategy
is to be an ’Employer of Choice’ - which is fundamental to attracting and
keeping the best talent right across the region. To make this happen, we have continuously
made big investments to attract and retain our employees and the journey
continues”, said Sunjoy Dhaawan, Vice President of Human Resources, DHL Express
India.
The survey
evaluated and compared organizations on various workplace related parameters
such as credibility of leadership, respect for individuality and contribution,
fairness and transparency in all practices and processes, camaraderie and a
sense of belonging. First hand information was acquired from employees and the
leadership team alike, and organizations that passed through stringent
evaluation criteria secured their position in the coveted list.
