Shiv Nadar
University, set up by Founder and Chairman of HCL Technologies Mr. Shiv Nadar
in 2011, has increased scholarship funds for the forthcoming academic year by
35% to Rs. 31 crore. Nearly 1,000
students are accommodated in the 286-acre campus in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The increase in
scholarship will help cover more students expected to enrol for new courses in
history and sociology, said Mr. Sundararajan M, a member of the university’s
executive council.
For a 4 year
engineering course, the university charges Rs. 12 lakh, but the biggest
scholarship will bring it down to Rs. 3.5 lakh.
The institute also
runs research programmes for the post-graduate and Ph.D students in subjects
such as bioinformatics, public policy, and big data The university plans to add
courses in law, communication and art. Its
first batch of undergraduates will take recruitment exams in 2015.
