FICCI- Confederation of MSME (FICCI-CMSME) seminar on
MSME Prosperity- Chennai
Part of FICCI CMSME 5-city seminar series in India
Indian MSMEs need to offer greater value to
their partners so as to improve the overall competitiveness of the value
chains. However, MSMEs face the problem of higher prices and unfavorable terms
and conditions imposed by the key suppliers due to the smaller size of their
orders and limited credit availability. The limited knowledge & availability
of technology; scattered geographical presence; poor awareness of latest
marketing strategies like digital advertising, e-commerce are also critical
challenges that the MSME sector generally confronts.
Overcoming these challenges and infusion of appropriate strategies to
strengthen MSMEs capabilities to align with the opportunities available in
global marketplace is a must for the overall growth & development of MSME
prosperity. Therefore, it is imperative
to create a platform wherein a recipe for ideal MSME ecosystem could be
offered.
After an
encouraging turnout in Pune
and New Delhi the third of the series
of five-city seminars
will be held in Chennai on May
02, 2014 at the MSME Development Institute
Auditorium, 65/1, G.S.T. Road, Guindy, Chennai from 10.30 am onwards. The Sessions that would
be covered in these seminars will be cost reduction in procurement, importance
of internet domain & online presence, ways & means to Bridge Finance
and Access Gap and cost-effective & Useful MSME Insurance.
Thiru K. Dhanavel IAS, Secretary to Government, Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises, Government of Tamil Nadu has been invited to deliver the
inaugural address.
In this seminar participants can take
advantage of technology that re-defines procurement for them. We may enable
participating entrepreneurs to buy raw materials, to start with few products,
at competitive price points and also give them the option to choose from a list
of quality suppliers, through an online technology. This is our attempt to
decrease the raw material cost procured by member MSMEs. Mr. Narayan,
Vice-President CMSME who is also the CEO of Power2SME will help members in this
regard.
In marketing front the protection of
online reputation and use of a .com (dot com) domain assumes special
significance to increase brand value and revenue/leads. Hence, the participants
will get help from VeriSign on creating effective brand and facilitate them to
establish their OWN identity via a .com (dot com) website at very minimal cost.
Insurance is an extremely important
component of the MSME’s business. Currently MSMEs do not get quality insurance
advice because they are small and find it hard to speak to knowledgeable
subject matter experts. Our partner Securenow will address the risk faced by
MSMEs and how Cost-effective & Useful MSME Insurance services can address
those risks.
Mainstream banks and other financial institutions have
typically viewed MSMEs as high-risk investments and have shied away from
serving these businesses. More MSMEs are suffering from this noticeably
widening gap, which is called the MSME financing gap. The need of the hour is
for both the lender and the business to get together and arrive at a mutually
beneficial stance. “What institutional modifications have to be undertaken by
the businesses is needed to be explored. Thus, the Religare Finvest, in these
seminars, would be providing insights on inclusive SME financing proposition
and would also give away the copy of guidebook on family managed businesses to
the participants.
The seminar will also provide an opportunity to the
participants to learn from MSME-DI on the various programmes and Schemes run by
Government of India especially Ministry of MSME for the development of MSME
sector.
