Employment 0Outlook Report: Overall sentiments improved

TeamLease Services, India’s largest composite staffing company, recently released the Employment and Business Outlook Report for the half year (HY1) period from April to September 2014.

All comparisons to previous half year period from October 2013 to March 2014

Rituparna Chakraborty, Senior Vice-President & Co-Founder, TeamLease Services, says, “Good tidings are anticipated for the Indian economy and this is obviously going to reflect on job creation. The overall sentiments have significantly improved this time around and we are confident that it will translate in to action on ground as well over the next 6 to 12 months.”

Looking at hiring from a sector perspective, IT recovers (3 %) after witnessing a gloomy outlook in the previous half year (HY2). Telecom sees growth (3%) after a flat outlook in HY2. Manufacturing & Engineering (-2%) and ITeS (-1%) continue to have a negative hiring sentiment like in the previous half year. Following an exuberant sentiment in HY2, the trend reverses in Retail/FMCG as the hiring outlook sees a marginal decrease (2%) in the coming half year.

City wise drill down indicates most cities having a positive hiring outlook in the forthcoming half year (HY1). Bangalore (5%) and Ahmedabad (4 %) continue to see a boost in their outlook as in the previous half year (HY2). Mumbai has gone past the stable sentiment of HY2 and sees a substantial growth (4 %) in HY1.

New Delhi and Pune observe an increase (3 % each) in hiring outlook during HY1. Hyderabad (2 %), Kolkata and Chennai (1 % each) witness a slight dip in sentiment over the previous half year.

The TeamLease study also indicates that entry and junior levels make a comeback in the coming half year HY1 as they witness a marginal increase (of 2 % to 3 %) in their hiring intents. However, middle levels that were popular in the previous half year HY2 with a significant growth in intent lose a bit (about 2 %) in HY1.

Furthermore, more organizations are opening up to attributing terminated-wrong-fit engagements to attrition.

TeamLease releases the Employment Outlook Report at regular intervals after a survey conducted with HR managers and senior management of different companies in India. The study, which covered 614 companies in the latest round, focuses on the employment growth potential, the business outlook and hiring forecasts with relation to the location and the company profile.

The report serves as a reference manual to corporate houses to understand the employment trend in the present market scenario at major cities across the country. TeamLease has commissioned noted analytics solutions provider inTouch Analytics (www.be-in-touch.com) to conduct the study.
