Day is April 19, commemorating April 19, 1943, when Dr. Albert Hofmann first
took LSD intentionally.
Ludhiana
is the hub for bicycle manufacturing in India. 90 % of the bicycles in India
are manufactured over there, rest 10 % are being manufactured in Noida,
Amritsar, Hyderabad but at a very small scale.
“About
40,000 to 50,000 cycles per day are manufactured in Ludhiana alone.
The
city is home to over 3,500 to 4,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)
that make cycle and cycle parts, providing employment to about 5 lakh people,”
according to the All
India
Cycle Manufacturers Association.
The
industry provides direct and indirect employment to about 10 lakh people in
India. The unorganized sector of the bicycle industry comprises of small scale
industries with unskilled and semi-skilled workers.
