April 19 World Bicycle Day: Eco-Friendly Mode of Transportation..

April 19 World Bicycle Day

Bicycle Day is April 19, commemorating 1943 April 19, when Dr. Albert Hofmann first took LSD intentionally.

Cycling is potentially an important mode of sustainable transport: it is non-polluting, inexpensive, and good for users health and the quality of urban life. But the amount of cycling in most cities worldwide remains well below its potential. 7

 Eco-Friendly Mode of Transportation..

Bicycle is a convenient form of transportation & provides 3 distinct advantages that include price, performance and environment protection.

Bicycles are considered as environment-friendly products & the latest electric-power bicycles are recognized worldwide as a green transport vehicle.

However, the role of bicycle that was once deemed as an indispensable item has come down drastically during the past decades because of significant improvements in living standards of people across the world.

Growing health consciousness..

People in the urban areas are becoming more health conscious and have started to realize the benefits of cycling in keeping the body fit and also in minimizing air pollution by not using heavy vehicles which pollute the environment and thus causes a number of health related problems.

Soaring Fuel Prices..

In India, fuel prices are being increased every now & then, this has made many people to switch to bicycles as a mode of their transportation.

Although still there are status-conscious people who refuse to adopt a bicycle as a regular mode of transport, but the construction of BRT corridors across the country will push more people towards adopting bicycle as a means of transportation.
