Krishnamurthy Shankar joins Philips India as Head - HR

Philips announced the appointment of Mr. Krish Shankar as the Head of Human Resources for South Asia, effective February 10th, 2014. He will be based in Gurgaon and will be responsible for spearheading the Philips Talent Strategy & the Human Resources team in the region.  

Shankar comes with extensive experience of 30 years across various leading organizations like Bharti Airtel, Unilever & Eicher. Shankar joins Philips from Bharti Airtel where he was the Executive Director – HR.  Prior to Airtel, Shankar built his career at Unilever over 20 years spanning Unilever in India, UK and Singapore. Commencing his Unilever stint as HR Manager in the Factories, he has had several stints in India and the UK across Talent Development, Talent Acquisition and Business Partnering, until he was the HR Head for the Foods Business in India leading up to becoming the VP-HR in the Asia-Africa regional organization.

Shankar joins Philips at an important stage in the growth of Philips in South Asia. Philips entered India 83 years ago, and has grown to become a leader in health & wellbeing in South Asia through its 28 different businesses organized as its 3 sectors of Lighting, Healthcare & Consumer Lifestyle. Philips has an end to end organization of approximately 10,000 people in South Asia from a large R&D presence (across Bangalore, Noida and Chennai) to 4 manufacturing facilities (across Mohali, Vadodara, Pune and Chennai) to a large commercial presence across South Asia. While, Philips has become the market leader across its 3 key sectors in South Asia, the Company has aggressive growth ambitions across its businesses.
