231 School Kids on the Keyboard to Create a New Guinness Record.
Around 231 students from 13 well known and reputed schools including 1 each from Dubai and California created the largest electronic keyboard ensemble at Chennai Convention Center on 16th January,2014 with the theme being Music for World Peace.Ms.S.Janaki, famous playback singer, Mr.Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti, Industrialist and Ms.A.R.Reihanah, Singer and Music Director were present on this unique occasion.
The school children under the tutelage and guidance of Isaimaamani M S Martinplayed several melodies from cinema and patriotic songs to the sheer delight of the packed hall at the Convention Center. For over two hours, the kids dressed in an immaculate white dished out mellifluous melodies on the keyboard.
This largest ensemble on the keyboard comprising of 231 school children is an attempt to create a new Guinness World Record according to Mr. M S Martin, the organizer. Some of the schools participated are Chettinad Vidhyashram, Dominic Savio, D.A.V, Rosary Matriculation, Sri Sivasami Kalalaya, PSBB Millenium, Vidya Mandir, P.S Senior Secondary School, St Patrick’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, West View High School, California & Our Own High School, Dubai.
Some of the songs played by the children during the program were Thamil Thai Vaazhthu ,Vaishnava Janatho, a bhajan by Mahatma Gandhi, theme music composed by Mr. Martin in 5 different ragas and styles of music to display India’s vibrant colours of varied cultures of different states, A.R. Rehman’s Acham Acham illai from movie Indra, Ma thuje salam, Oscar winning “Jai ho”,we are the world of Michael Jackson, Iravum nilavum ulagai from Movie Anjali ,Thirupazh Muthai Tharu Pathi Thirunagai Maha kavi Bharath’s Nirpaduve Nadapaduve etc. The songs made everyone in the audience from 6 to 60 stamp their feet to the exciting beat. Maestro’s Vande Matram also brought about a great fervor among the audience.
