The Index has witnessed 4% decrease in
hiring in Dec’13 over Dec’12
Professionals working in Auto sector saw a
decline of 17% in Dec’13 as compared to Dec’12.

Index of Chennai for the month of December
2013 has shown a decline when compared to December 2012 with the index
moving down by 4 %.
The Month on
Month comparison shows that the index
has moved down by 11 % in December 2013.
Among Industries-
Auto sector has seen a decline with the index moving down by 4 % in December 2013 as compared to December 2012.
Monthly comparison
however reflects a upward trend with the index moving down up 16 % in
December 2013 over November 2013.
Commenting on the index, Mr. V. Suresh, EVP
and Head Sales Naukri.com said “Job Market in the Auto Hub of India -
Chennai did experience rough headwinds in the year 2013 fuelled by the lack of
demand in the auto / auto ancillary sector. However we witnessed a slow
recovery in the second half of 2013 thanks to the revival of the IT / ITES
sector backed up by business confidence in the US markets and the depreciation
of the Indian Currency. The Job Market is likely to improve in the months to
come and 2014 could as well be the start of another exciting period of growth”
