Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, a premier B - School in the country, inaugurated its annual inter B-school fest L’Attitude 13° 05' today in its platinum rated LEED certified campus. The festival features a variety of events and competitions that encompasses various functions of management education such as marketing, finance, operations, strategy and human resources. This year the theme was ‘MUTATIS MUTANDIS – Lead the Change, it is time for young leaders and scholars to identify elements and solutions that can transform India to an imperial power it once was.
During the inauguration, Mr. D.
Shivakumar, Chairman and CEO, PepsiCo India and Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu,
Member of Lok Sabha, were welcomed by Dr. Bala V Balachandran, founder
and dean of Great Lakes. L’Attitude 13° 05' first kick started in the year
2007 with an objective to groom leadership skills and learning in a fun way by
encompassing attributes of management science. This year L’Attitude saw over
2400 registrations
from Top B Schools across the country.
In his inspiring welcome speech Dr.
Bala V Balachandran spoke about the importance of being the change and leading
the change. He added, “The country is in need of energy, economic propriety
will come only through students. Management students are creating the economic
prosperity and conferences like these create a platform for grooming the
leaders of tomorrow. L’Attitude is an example where leadership merges with
science of management.”
In his
inaugural address D. Shivakumar spoke on Change Management, where he presented ten
learning examples from his personal experience. He said, “If the team is not
leading the change there will be no change. A major change is one where the
need to learn new behaviour and skills arises. Students like you should lead
the change or be the victim of change because all the change are people
intensive and performance positive.”
In his key
note address, Mr. Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu spoke about the challenges that
the nation faces in terms of brining the change and insisted that it is the
students who can face such challenge and bringing a solution too. He added,
“Brilliant ideas of Indian minds does not go meet its end, but at the same time
accept the reality to get a solution. We need to have shared dream to bring
about the change and I firmly believe that 2014 is the year of great
opportunity for us to break from the past. We should be realistic to know that
we should not be over optimistic.”
The
inauguration concluded with thank you note presented by Prof. Sriram, Executive
Director, Great Lakes Institute of Management, where he thanked every
individual involved in the process of making L’Attitude 13° 05' a grand
success. He specially thanked the chief guests of the occasion for inspiring
the audience with their commendable speeches.
