conference by Great Lakes on how digital marketing is influencing buyers on
huge scale
Great Lakes Institute of Management, a premier
B-School in the country, held the Digital Marketing Conference its Platinum
Rated LEED-certified campus in Chennai. The annual event saw industry’s
renowned digital marketing experts and leaders take part to discuss on the
current trends and future of digital marketing. The conference was hosted with
an objective to explore the nuances of digital marketing, which is the
sensation among the marketers. The conference enabled the management students
to raise questions on various trending tools of digital marketing, while the
experts presented real time case studies which detailed on the utilization of
the digital tools.
The
invitees of the occasion Mr. Satya Prabhakar, CEO, Sulekha and Mr. Sunil
Maheshwari, CEO & Co-Founder at Mango Technologies Pvt. Ltd. spoke on the
topics SoLoMo – Social Local Mobile and Location Based Marketing. The other renowned speakers who
took part in the panel discussion were Mr. Sumit Jain, CEO, Commonfloor, Mr.
Amit Bansal, CTO, Pearson India, Mr. Pramod Pratap, Marketing Manager, Infosys,
Mr. Sanjeet Sen, Country Marketing Manager, Symantec and Mr. Anuj Jain, VP
Marketing, Firstcry. The speakers spoke on the topic “Mobile the New Digital.”

In his enthralling speech Prof.
Bala V. Balachandran, Founder and Dean, Great Lakes Institute of Management
said, “The digital advantage we have is going to create a big boon to
businesses but that comes through effective maximization. Citing the need, we
are planning to introduce new course, M.Sc in IT and Management in association
with Georgia State University.”
Key note speaker Mr.
Satya Prabhakar, CEO, Sulekha said, “Direct
Marketing has relatively dropped by 50% while digital marketing is on the
driver’s seat influencing the buyers by converting their wants into needs.
Digital marketing has created a platform to understand specific needs of a
consumer and connect those needs with specific business. This leads to more
accurate selling and higher customer satisfaction.”
Speaking on the occasion Mr.
Sunil Maheshwari, CEO & Co-Founder at Mango Technologies Pvt. Ltd. said, “We haven’t scratched the
Location Based Marketing technique completely. We are still getting there and
the increase in the volume of smart phone usage will widen the potential of
location based marketing which will exponentially drive sales. ”
In his address Prof Vaidy
Jayaraman said, “We are in the era of mass customization, the whole idea of
branding and reputation management is going through a huge change. Things to
ponder going forward in the digital age are Curation, Social Media Management,
Measurement & Analytics and Semantic Web.”

order to give their students an edge over others. The conference helped the
students of Great Lakes not only to understand digital marketing on whole but
also threw light on the trending pattern of the subject.
