About NATCON 2013..
The National Convention is an annual congregation of
Architects organised by The Indian Institute of Architects. IIA NATCON 2013 is
being hosted by IIA TN CHAPTER on behalf of the National body to bring together
the professionals to discuss and deliberate the various facets of Architectural
development, practice and education and the future vision.
The Convention is being organized at the Trade Centre,
Nandambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu on the 27th, 28th & 29th of December
2013 with a participation of nearly
1,000 to 1,500 Architects from all over India, including members, new members
& soon to be members of IIA.
Host City: Chennai..
The coastal City of Chennai has been known for its
hospitality and warmth. Chennai is acknowledged as the cultural capital, with
an enriched ancient tradition of music, literature, classical & folk dance and the arts.
Heritage sites at Mahabalipuram and Kancheepuram are a
rare testimony of its radical experimentation in rock architecture and a new
synthesis of form. Its proximity to thriving centers of learning and arts such
as Pondicherry, Auroville, Bengaluru, Kanyakumari, Chetinad, Madurai,
Srirangam, and Tanjore has reinforced its geographical significance.
The City today reflects a “work in progress” with
large infrastructure projects being implemented, like in most other Indian
Cities. Over the next few decades, the city of Chennai hopes to transform,
inspired by its ancient arts as well as futuristic and sustainable innovations.
ARCH EXPO..
As part of the Convention, a seamless Mega exhibition
with an area of 4400 square meter of
Architectural and Building products from manufacturers and dealers throughout
India, is being organized at the same venue which has excellent infrastructure
and facilities.
Emphasis and
encouragement shall be bestowed on sustainable, energy-efficient and innovative
products.
ARCH INFO..
Alongside the exposition, a display of Works of Master
architects from India, award-winning recent projects and award-winning students
works shall be on display. An Awareness pavilion to provide information about
architectural practice will be on display.
A mini architectural film festival will also find
place in the expo venue.
