Egmore, formerly known as Ezhumbur is one of the busiest neighborhoods of Chennai city.
It is home to the most famous Egmore Museum which is here since the British era & serves as an important landmark in the Chennai city.
After Chennai Central Railway station, the railway station here is the second most important in the Tamilnadu state.
Egmore houses other important landmarks such as the Commissioner's office, art galleries, Connemara Public Library which is one of the biggest libraries in India. The area also has a child's hospital which is government run & is considered to be one of the best hospitals for children.
Education wise, the area is considered to be good because of the number of quality education providing schools & colleges nearby.
It is easily connected through bus train & other forms of private transportation and is becoming increasingly habitable.
