Top 3 failures of UPA 2: Opinion Poll Result...!


An opinion poll survey conducted by CNN - IBN shows that people are dissatisfied with the present UPA government and majority believe the UPA -II government does not deserve another term to rule.  

The survey shows that Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh is facing a credibility crisis as his honest image has taken a beating in view of the present scams and controversies surrounding UPA - II government.

The prime minister is being perceived as a person who is not bold or tough in taking decisions, says the poll.

Among the respondents more than half (56%) are dissatisfied with the present term of the UPA government. The government is also going though the phase of worst credibility crisis as two-third of the respondents (67%) feel that the government has lost its credibility.




Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's performance in the second term is rated as poor by more than half of the respondents and majority (61 %) of respondents feel he should be replaced.

Price rise closely followed by corruption are the seen as the biggest failures of the Manmohan Singh government.

As the UPA - II government is set to complete 4 years, the people feel the present government is weak and lacks the courage to take decisions. The people also feel that there is a rise in corruption in last one year.

As the UPA - II government is going to enter into the last year of its second term, CNN - IBN Urban India poll was conducted by GFK Mode to understand the perception towards the UPA - II government in context of the current state of governance, the issues that are occupying mind-space in urban India as well as key leadership issues.

The CNN - IBN Opinion Poll Survey shows Mr. Narendra Modi is the most preferred leader across political parties to become the next prime minister. Narendra Mr. Modi gets maximum support from the respondents, more than twice that of Mr.  Rahul Gandhi or Mr. Dr Manmohan Singh, according to the findings of the survey.

Methodology...!

The poll was carried out in 12 cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Patna, Chandigarh, Bhopal & Jaipur from May 7 - 11, 2013.

A total of 2,466 respondents above the age of 18 years across all 12 cities were interviewed based on a close ended questionnaire. Within each selected city, respondents were selected from different areas ensuring geographical dispersion Major findings of the survey:

More than half of the respondents are dissatisfied with the current government's performance.

Price rise and inflation has been stated as the biggest failure of UPA-II by 1/3rd respondents, closely followed by 1/ 4th respondents suggesting 'corruption' as the biggest failure
