In what could provide
relief to several thousand investors / property buyers, the Tamilnadu state
government has decided to regularise unapproved residential layouts (Plots of
Land) in all local bodies in the state.
Comprehensive
Scheme..!
The comprehensive
scheme will be applicable to all panchayats, municipalities & corporations
in Tamilnadu state.
An announcement to
this effect was made by Housing and Urban Development Minister
Mr.R.Vaithialingam in the state legislative assembly on recently, while
replying to a special call attention motion moved by the members of CPI,
Congress and Puthiya Tamilagam.
Amendment
Tamil Nadu Registration Act..!
The minister
Mr.R.Vaithialingam said, ''The efforts were being taken to give effect to the
amendment made to the Tamil Nadu Registration Act in 2009, in order to prevent
registration of unapproved residential plots in future.The decision was taken
after a meeting with the registration minister in December, 2012."
The state government
was also planning to bring in necessary amendments in the existing laws to
check such land deals in future.
Taking a serious view
of mushrooming multiple unauthorised
layouts in Tamilnadu, the AIADMK government in its budget last year (2012)
announced its plan to regularise old residential layouts against payment of a
penalty.
The departments of
municipal administration & rural development have endorsed the housing
departments plan to approve unauthorised layouts.
The Chennai
Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) had recently introduced a scheme to
approve residential plots registered till December 2007 in the Chennai
Metropolitan Area. The regulatory body had earlier regularised unapproved plots
registered till 1989. CMDA has been given enough powers to regularise layouts
which were created December 31, 1989 within in the city limits.
Also, the Municipal
Administration and Water Supply Department has issued an order to regularise
layouts formed before December 31, 2007 within the limits of Corporations and
Municipalities.
However, no such
scheme was announced for other local bodies falling under the jurisdiction of
the directorate of town and country planning (DTCP) in the past, the Mr. R.
Vaithialingam minister told.
"Efforts were on
