According to Dr. Ramya Ananthakrishnan, Executive Director, Resource Group for Education and Advocacy on Community Health, Lack of awareness about tuberculosis is the reason for the disease emerging a public health challenge,
Though there are effective drugs & well-developed healthcare network in the public and private sector to treat the disease, it continues to be a concern in public health, she said.
The Resource Group, an NGO, is working to increase public awareness about tuberculosis which can be cured with early diagnosis & proper treatment, Dr. Ramya Ananthakrishnan said at the inaugural of a photo exhibition on issues concerning tuberculosis at Chennai..
The exhibition was inaugurated by film actor Mr. Jiiva who felicitated community volunteers.
Over the next 3 weeks, the photographs by Mr. Yuvaraj Vivek will be showcased in various locations in the Chennai city.
