Tamil Nadu Budget 2013-14: Postpone Annual Land Guideline Value Revision to Next Year 2014..!


The Tamil Nadu Government will focus on rural and urban infrastructure, expedite implementation of projects which will benefit the agriculture and manufacturing sectors, said Finance Minister à®°். O. Panneer selvam in the Assembly recently.

Presenting the budget for 2013-14, he said the thrust would be on agriculture with investments going into storage and marketing infrastructure, industrial development backed by speedy implementation of infrastructure projects including in power and roads.

No new taxes..!

The Government has decided not to impose new taxes or hike existing rates in the backdrop of the slow economic growth, he said.

The Government has allocated Rs. 2,000 crore for an infrastructure development fund and Rs. 200 crore for project preparation fund for the year.

Key infrastructure projects have been cleared at the first meeting of the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board.

A new body, the Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority will be created along the lines of the National Highways Authority of India to maintain and manage State Highways.

The biggest externally aided project will be implemented in the road sector at a cost of Rs 8,580 crore covering over 1,678 km.

There is no increase for Property Registration Guideline Value 


The Tamilnadu government has decided to postpone the annual land guideline value revision to next year (2014).  

Inspite of this, receipts from Stamp Duty &  Registration is expected to grow at a rate of 15.93 % in 2013-2014.


Hence, the receipts under this item is fixed as Rs. 9,874.22 crores in 2013-2014 as against Rs. 8,516.87 crores in 2012-2013

Efficient revenue administration ensures better maintenance of law & order, land administration and an efficient grievance redressal system.

In the past two years, nine (9) new taluks and one revenue sub-division were formed. The fast track patta transfer system introduced by this Government has helped to dispose of over 26 lakh cases so far.

Thus, the overall pendency level has been brought down
from 1,46,067 cases at the beginning of the scheme, to
less than 33,000 cases now.

During 2012-2013, up to February, 1.2 lakh house site pattas were distributed. During 2013-2014, will distribute 2 lakh house site pattas.
